Ghana is one of the main producers of precious materials. In 2019 the gold production of the Ghanaian mines surpassed that of the South African mines, which have always been first in this particular continental ranking.

According to the Bloomberg agency, Ghana has deployed massive investments that now allow the African country to boast lower production costs and large production. It produced 4.8 million ounces of gold in 2018, marking a 12% increase in gold production compared to 2017. In 2020, according to data from the US Geological Survey, it ranked seventh among producing countries of gold worldwide.
